Building and Construction Systems, a business unit of Arconic, is the leading manufacturer of architectural aluminum products and systems for the commercial construction industry. Kawneer is part of Arconic’s global Building and Construction Systems (BCS) business unit, which manufactures and markets architectural systems and products in North America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
 
We have a need for a Drafting Quality Lead for our Springdale, AR office for the Kawneer line of business.  Under the direction of the Technical Services Manager, the Drafting Quality Lead will oversee product application and shop drawing quality of the drafting department including outsource vendors.   
 
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • The primary purpose is to work with internal and external drafters to ensure quality production of architectural aluminum façade shop drawings to eliminate claims resulting from errors;
  • Provide application and quality check for production shop drawings;
  • Collect metric data for quality and submit feedback to owner for problem solving;
  • Participate/coordinate in departmental PPS A3;
  • Provide input for the departmental ABS quarterly A3 and help ensure all action items are completed;
  • Attend and discuss quality escapes in daily L1;
  • Attend weekly PPM L2 meeting to identify potential claims and resolve existing claims;
  • Coordinate target outsource vendors to increase output quality while driving lower cost and on time submittal release;
  • Review non-traditional products and coordinate product bundling with other facilities;
  • Review specifications, architectural and structural drawings for product requirements;
  • Provide training to all departments for application of products and standards.

Major Customers Include:
  • External Customers: Architects, Customers, General Contractors.
  • Internal Customers: Drafting, Engineering, Take-off, Design assist, Project Management, Production Control, Tooling and Manufacturing Departments.



Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
  • 4 year Civil or Mechanical engineering/engineering technology degree with a minimum of 3 years experience in the curtain wall/ storefront field reading and using shop drawings.  PE licensure is not required.
  • 10 years construction/architectural industry background where positions held primarily focused on creating and using construction drawings.
