Building and Construction Systems, a business unit of Arconic, is the leading manufacturer of architectural aluminum products and systems for the commercial construction industry. Kawneer is part of Arconic’s global Building and Construction Systems (BCS) business unit, which manufactures and markets architectural systems and products in North America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
We have an immediate opening with our Arconic/Kawneer business for a Drafter III/Die Coordinator based at our offices in Springdale, Arkansas.  The primary purpose of this function is to produce die drawings from customers, drafters, engineers, project managers and others who need die profile drawings. 
 Duties & Responsibilities include:
  • Manage all engineering change processes for new profiles, revision, re-established drawings and updates via Vault;
  • Update and maintain drawing numbers in customer database and install instruction files;
  • Hold bi-weekly meetings on die profiles;
  • Maintain the access parts library with the standard and custom profile drawings;
  • Coordinate revisions (track, review and update revision database);
  • Set up kick-off and preliminary submittal meetings;
  • Prepare and coordinate shop drawings and/or part drawings for standard, modified standard, and custom projects using established drafting standards;
  • Incorporate mark-up corrections from internal and external customers;
  • Prepare die drawings for projects and customer requests;
  • Interpret architectural and structural drawings, specifications, design drawings and sketches and review with team (in-house or outsourced) to ensure correct interpretations;     
  • Maintain files and records of drawings;
  • Maintain current set of Architectural and Structural drawings. Download from FTP sites as needed;
  • Understand specification sections for a project to ensure correctness of shop drawings;
  • Identify problem areas/non standard areas of project by reviewing architectural and structural drawings and be able to problem solve these areas;
  • Communicate requests for information (RFI's) after review of architectural and structural drawings to the project manager or customer, if necessary;
  • Provide estimating support for technical services by review of architectural and structural drawings to provide drafting hours;
  • Provide architectural service support/details/information to customers and architects;
  • Attend/support project meetings with customers and/or architects and general contractors to offer input or instruction for Kawneer representation as needed;
  • Attend and support project mock-ups, field visits, or manufacturing facility to offer guidance to customers/general contractors during the installation process of a product as needed;
  • Provide continuous departmental improvements to reduce claims and improve efficiency of shop drawings;
  • Use computer-aided drafting software and established drafting standards to develop layouts, drawings, and designs that meet engineering specifications;
  • Review architectural and structural drawings, understand product usage and design for application, and retrieves information to complete drawing, layout or design;
  • Uses detailed drawings or engineering specifications to dimension, scale or line locate;
  • Lead and execute large standard, modified standard  and custom projects with support from Drafter I, Drafter II or outsourced vendor employees as required;
  • Check Drafter I, Drafter II, and outsource vendor shop drawings using established drafting standards;
  • Train and mentor Drafter I, Drafter II, and outsourced vendor employees;
  • Understand project flow from Sales to Estimating to Technical Services;
  • Read and interpret as sold quotes;
  • Provide AutoCad support for front office (maintain hot key and lisp routine).


Basic Qualifications: 
  • AAS in Drafting and Design (2 year degree) and 8 years industry related experience or a Certificate in Drafting with 10 years of industry related experience;
  • 5 years of experience with AutoCAD;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Experience with MS Office, AutoCAD and Inventor.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with 3D and BIM;
  • Experience with curtain wall design;
  • Knowledge of Kawneer products.
