This opening is in our Kawneer business which is in Springdale, AR. We are the leading manufacturer of architectural aluminum products and systems for the commercial construction industry. Kawneer is part of Arconic’s global Building and Construction Systems (BCS) business unit, which manufactures and markets architectural systems and products in North America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.

The primary responsibility of the Drafter III (Drafting Coordinator) will use computer-aided drafting software for drafting services by providing die drawings, mentoring and assisting in training less experienced drafters, project coordination and meeting customer deadlines.

Job Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Produce die profile drawings from customer, drafter, engineer, project manager, and various others who need die profile drawings;
  • EC/PCF/PCH processes for new profiles, revisions, re-established drawings and updates via Vault;
  • Update and maintain drawing numbers in customer data base and installation instruction files;
  • Hold bi-weekly meeting on pcf/pch die profiles;
  • Maintain the access parts library with the standard and custom profile drawings;
  • Coordinate revisions (track, review and update revision database);
  • Set up kick-off/Preliminary submittal meetings;
  • Prepare/Coordinatesshop drawings and/or part drawings for standard, modified standard, and custom projects using established drafting standards;
  • Incorporate mark-up corrections from internal and external customers;
  • Prepare die drawings for projects and customer request;
  • Possess knowledge of a variety of standard, modified standard or custom products and procedures;
  • Interpret architectural and structural drawings, specifications, design drawings and sketches, and reviews with team (in house or outsourced) to ensure correct interpretations;
  • Well-rounded knowledge of manufacturing, installation, and glazing processes;
  • Adhere to policies and procedures;
  • Maintain files and records of drawings;
  • Maintain current set of Architectural and Structural drawings. Download from FTP sites as needed;
  • Understand specification sections for a project to ensure correctness of shop drawings;
  • Identify problem areas/non-standard areas of project by reviewing architectural and structural drawings and can problem solve these areas;
  • Communicate requests for information (RFI's) after review of architectural and structural drawings to the project manager or customer, if necessary;
  • Provide estimating support for technical services by review of architectural and structural drawings to provide drafting hours.


Basic Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution;
  • Minimum of 3 years’ manufacturing, construction or architectural experience;
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience with AutoCAD/Revit/Inventor;
  • Employee must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate's degree in Drafting or Design from an accredited institution;
  • Drafting Certificate from an accredited institution;
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience with architectural/structural drawings and specifications;
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in curtainwall / window wall design projects.
