Arconic has an exciting opportunity for a Global Marketing Director - Automotive to work at our Arconic Automotive Center located in Farmington Hills, MI.  This position is with Arconic's Global Rolled Products (GRP) Business Unit. GRP produces the widest variety of aluminum sheet and plate products in the world. Our aluminum is the foundation for many products serving customers in a wide range of industries, including Aerospace, Building and Construction, and Automotive Systems and Distribution. This position would support Arconic Automotive and report to the Vice President - Commercial Global Automotive, with daily direction/interaction with Operations, Inside Sales, and Supply Chain Management and will support customers in the U.S. and possibly abroad.  Our goal at Arconic Automotive is to work with our customers to help them build superior vehicles that consumers will demand.  We accomplish this through design, engineering and product solutions that provide maximum flexibility, systems cost savings and a simplified production process.
In the capacity as Global Marketing Director for Arconic GRP, this position is accountable for developing and implementing strategic market plans for automotive sheet sold worldwide.  In this global marketing role, the incumbent is responsible for strategies that maximize the profit and capacity of the multi-mill automotive system to their fullest potential for GRP.
• The strategy consists of a plan that delivers profitability, market position, and cost reduction efforts.  The strategy considers customer needs, value analysis, manufacturing feasibilities and financial impacts.
• Provide in-depth market, product and manufacturing knowledge to share information and provide recommendations to Marketing, Sales, Manufacturing and Supply Chain management.
• Involvement in R&D by supporting the development and execution of product innovation plans.
• Provide leadership to execute objectives in a global market environment across Arconic BU and RU organizations. 
• This position has a focus on the automotive customer - developing knowledge on what influences the customer buying decision with focus on value packaging - including product differentiation, product performance, price, service and new applications.
Other activities include, but are not limited to:
• Supervising marketing resources within the GRP Automotive Commercial group.  This does not include the application engineering function which is a separate function within the group.
• Pricing.
• Contract negotiations.
• Customer needs identification.
• Competitor analysis.
• Product development and planning support.
• Market research/forecasting/trend analysis.
• Define tactical actions (technical, financial, commercial) needed to support the strategy.
• Track product profit/loss.  Understand the cost structure and pricing structure to identify and assess opportunities. 
• Work with operations, supply chain, commercial and customer resources to develop scenarios on the production path for various parts that will utilize manufacturing capabilities in an optimal way for overall profitability.
• Provide leadership for cross functional, multi – BU teams (that often include key customers) to achieve strategic objectives.
• Interact with and influence organization (at all levels) to achieve objectives as planned or as requested/invited.
• Maintains updates and deploys business case tools to assess strategic investments.
• Knows the strategy, assumptions, cost structure and objectives of major competitors.


Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline or business from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in Automotive products and rolling mill manufacturing processes
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in marketing analysis
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States.  Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status.  ITAR defines U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (I.E. Green Card Holder), Political Asylee, or Refugee.

Preferred Requirements:
  • 12 or more years of experience with Automotive customer interfaces
