Arconic is looking for a Development Lab Technician to join our Arconic Wheel and Transportation Products (AWTP) business unit in Cleveland, OH.

Job Description:
The Development Lab Technician functions within the Product Engineering department to perform development work in lab environment and interact with various departments. Developing new concepts in the lab and accuracy of the test results is important to drive decision making on new and existing products at AWTP.
 
This position provides technical support to the global AWTP organization for the development of new designs and technology. The incumbent communicates with the engineering and technology department staff, Arconic Technical Center, process engineering, quality assurance personnel in all global manufacturing sites.  Internal contacts include the engineering and technology department staff, process engineering and quality assurance.  External contacts are with other Arconic locations including the Arconic Technical Center and outside suppliers.
 
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Principal focus of this role is to perform development work in a lab environment and provide technical support to manufacturing operations. Tasks and responsibilities as below:
  • Test with existing methods and develop new methods for stress measurements on Aluminum wheels
  • Perform non-destructive testing using eddy current method, develop new techniques for indication detection
  • Operate turning and milling machine in lab for development projects
  • Perform experiments in the manufacturing plant and outside suppliers to collect data for development projects
  • Install strain gages on wheels using existing and new techniques for various advanced engineering projects
  • Create, develop and test concepts for Research and Development projects in the lab
  • Setup cornering fatigue testing machines in the lab
  • Perform basic mechanical and electrical maintenance on inhouse cornering fatigue test machines


Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
  • Associates degree from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience performing hands on mechanical, electrical work in a manufacturing or test lab environment
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States.  Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire.  Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. (IF NEEDED)
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status.  ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee. (IF NEEDED)
