Design Engineer, New Production Development

Essential Functions:
Responsible for designing and developing new products for aerospace industry.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Designs and develops new products and product families reducing global requirement to conceptual designs then detailed designs.
  • Analyzes research data, prior art and relevant specifications to define the design space.
  • Collaborates with team members to select materials, processes and tooling.
  • Confers with research personnel to clarify or resolve problems and validate design.
  • Participates in the preparation of invention reports and preparation of other documentation required to file and prosecute patents.
  • Prepares or coordinates preparation of product or system layout and detailed drawings.
  • Coordinates building of prototype product.
  • Plans and develops experimental test programs, coordinates test programs.
  • Analyzes test data and reports to determine if design meets functional and performance specifications.
  • Uses computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to design product and simulate performance.
  • Works under the direction of a Sr. engineer or Engineering Manager to manage new product development projects from concept development to design/product definition, verification and validation.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
  • Masters of Science degree (MS) in Mechanical Engineering, Design Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 2 years engineering experience.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment. eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position;
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulation (ITAR), which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. Green Card Holder), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Design Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 3 years engineering experience as a design engineer.
