Job Description

SUMMARY
Employee will use power tools, air arching equipment, or billet grinder, to remove excess metal and surface defects from manufacturing parts or accessory parts prior to buffing or plating by performing the following duties.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties and responsibilities include the following; other duties may be required and assigned at any time.
 
Selects abrasive wheel according to grain size, type of finish specified, product being polished, or amount of metal to be removed.
 
Must move parts on and off pallets.
 
Attaches abrasive wheel to drive mechanism.
 
Starts polisher and manipulates work piece against abrasive wheel or portable wheel against work piece to remove metal and surface defects.
 
Examines part for acceptability of finish, cracks.
 
Clean and dispose of trash in work area.
 
Must have understanding and knowledge of company procedures and work instructions.
 
Maintains a safe and organized workstation and follows all company policy, safety and procedures.
 
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.


Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or GED and 1-2 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
 
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
 
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
 
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
