We have an immediate need for a Controls Engineer at our AWTP Barberton Plant.  Under the supervision of the Cast House Plant Manager, the Controls Engineer position is accountable for:
 
Job Dimensions:
The principal challenges of this position lie in the driving long term improvements in control centers and process automation, as well as day to day support, troubleshooting and problem solving focused on driving increased equipment uptime and throughput.
 
Important duties include:
  • Visualizing, estimating, proposing and implementing advanced automation solutions which improve the safety, reduce costs, and/or increase output of product manufacturing.
  • Observing and working in operating areas to maintain knowledge of current conditions.
  • Ability to work safely and manage the work of others, including contractors, to meet all Arconic EHS guidelines.
  • Writing and/or approving engineering specifications, designs, estimates, schedules, spare parts lists, quotations, requisitions, work orders, etc.
  • Directing individual designers, electricians, mechanics, and maintenance supervisors.
  • Responsible for change control configuration and management for motor control centers and drives
  • Planning, scheduling and coordinating equipment installations.
  • Preparing capital authorization requests (RFA’s), engineering reports, and project status reports.
  • Maintaining effective working relationships with peers, associates, and others at all levels.
  • This is a hands-on Electrical Engineering role.  Primarily day shift but incumbent should be able to work off shift based on business needs.
 
The position is primarily concerned with providing engineering services.  However, it does influence the character and performance of the organization as it trains and develops engineers, technical specialists, mechanical unit supervisors and technicians and others.  This position does not originate policy but must assure implementation of existing corporate procedures and practices.  Also, it interprets and implements local policy and procedures within the framework of company policy under the direction of the Cast House Plant Manager.  The incumbent plans and establishes goals and objectives for his/her areas, which will directly positively affect the corporate goals to achieve targeted cost savings and/ or productivity goals.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 1 year of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States.  Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire.  Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in Engineering
  • 3 years’ experience with PLC programming experience or certification
  • 3 years’ experience in project management
  • 3 years’ experience trouble shooting
