Their skills are sharpened as full members of a project team, working alongside leaders in partnership with business unit clients. Co-Ops are assigned projects based on their business unit specifications which will vary depending on location. Some of the highlights as a member of the team are business insights sessions with the Senior Leadership team across the organization, professional development opportunities, and plant tours, and social activities with other Co-Ops and colleagues. With over 50 locations across the US, there are opportunities to work in a variety places around the country.
The Continuous Improvement (CI) Co-Op is a position in Arconic’s Continuous Improvement organization.  The role is comprised of training designed to provide Co-Ops with a comprehensive knowledge of Arconic’s system of lean manufacturing, known as “Arconic Business System - ABS”.  CI Co-Ops learn Arconic Business System through, one-on-one coaching from the HSC Continuous Improvement Lead, shop-floor improvement activities, and kaizens.  Heavy emphasis is placed on experiential learning, known as “learn by doing”.  During the assignment, CI Co-Ops are exposed to multiple production processes to broaden their exposure and learning experiences to prepare them for future entry level positions in the company.   

 
A CI Co-Op works part-time during the school year while attending classes. Schedules are flexible.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications
• Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
•Must be currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program with a major in Engineering, Operations, Manufacturing, or Business Management.
 •Employee must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
 •This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. Green Card Holder), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
 
Preferred Qualifications:
What are we looking for? We look for Co-Ops with:
 •Prefer candidates be enrolled in degree programs in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering, from an accredited institution.
• Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma principles and/or the Toyota Production System.
• Demonstrated outstanding academic achievement
• A strong record of team, project and/or people leadership in a work setting and/or extracurricular activities
• The ability to thrive in fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment
• Willingness to take initiative to understand the business
• An aptitude for problem solving; strong writing and verbal communication skills
• Previous successful experience as an active member of a team
• A strong commitment to excellence and to personal and professional growth
• Must be resourceful, responsible, tenacious, curious, independent, confident and high energy
