Job Description

Arconic is currently in search of an Manufacturing Teams Specialist to join our Continuous Improvement Department for our Global Rolled Products (GRP) Operations business unit in Davenport, IA.

The Manufacturing Teams Specialist will be responsible for all design, implementation, and on-going coaching, training, and development of semi-autonomous hourly workforce teams;  including supporting individual and team growth.  Semi-autonomous teams are part of Davenport Works’ long-term strategy to engage all employees, drive decision-making to the shop floor, and improve productivity  to levels necessary to survive in an increasingly difficult and competitive marketplace.

Additional responsibilities include (but not limited to) the following activities:
  • Provide support to the Continuous Improvement team which includes training, coaching and supporting projects on the shop floor
  • Promote and support the growth and development of established semi-autonomous hourly teams which includes creating systems to track and evaluate training
  • Oversee and guide Manufacturing Team Coaches, and their respective teams, through implementation and subsequent stages of development as well as provide feedback to for performance improvement opportunities
  • Coach different levels of leadership to develop metrics for improving processes and driving business impact improvements
  • Work on production floor with teams to define, understand, and solve issues to ensure that goals are being met
  • Measure, through coaching skills, how each team is progressing through the team levels progression tool
  • Identify, solve and provide solutions to systemic issues, including development of standardized processes and identify help chains
  • Work with Union representatives to develop solutions pertaining to the ongoing development of semi-autonomous teams
  • Support Global Rolled Products division on training and development initiatives


Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
  • 5 years or more of manufacturing experience  
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with training and development  
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States.  Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire.  Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee

 Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing tools
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively lead and drive change in a positive manner influencing others on new concepts
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability prioritize work
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver training and coaching to all levels of the organization
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in a variety of settings (shop floor, classroom, plant leadership) and work with cross-functional teams
