The Continuous Improvement Engineer II will be responsible for supporting and assisting the Continuous Improvement Manager in the organization, planning, implementation and follow-through of continuous improvement initiatives established within the Company’s operating model: the Arconic Business System (ABS).  The Continuous Improvement Engineer II coordinates and leads a wide range of activities that are designed to improve on-time delivery, productivity, quality, cost, safety and environmental performance.
 
Essential Functions: The Continuous Improvement Engineer position within Arconic includes both creation of strategic vision and tactical management and execution, examples include but are not limited to:
• Ensures a culture is in place that puts the safety and welfare of our employees ahead of all other goals.
• Facilitates successful kaizen, problem solving and rapid improvement process events with both internal and external consultants, customers and suppliers, with a major emphasis on locally focused improvement.  Provides the support for all follow-throughs required to sustain the improvements established during the events.
• Coordinates, plans, and executes 5S and TPM kick-offs/workshops.  Works with the team to create/modify cleaning standards, TPM checklists, etc. and helps audit to ensure sustainability. 
• Coordinates, assists, and delivers team-based ABS training to support enhanced organizational performance through imparting a thorough knowledge of team and ABS concepts, principles, and practices.
• Assists team leaders in team skill and knowledge development to support meeting management goals, project management, improvements, results measurements, problem solving, and related team skills.
• Provides assistance and support focusing on the perfection of ABS techniques.  Identifies opportunities for improvements.
• Assists in the collection of data for tracking improvements.
• •Coordinates with resource departments to fabricate, install and implement improvements.
• Ensure that all work activities are performed in accordance with established safety and environmental standards.
• Maintain full compliance with Company policies and procedures, and conduct all activities in accordance with the Arconic Guide to Business Conduct.
• Demonstrate a knowledge of, and commitment to, ABS manufacturing principles and techniques.
• Coordinate with the ABS Center of Excellence to identify and implement best practices from across the Arconic businesses.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:  
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, or Business Management. 
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in lean manufacturing
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prefer the Bachelor’s Degree is in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering, from an accredited institution.
  • Prefer 1 year or more of work experience in a manufacturing environment.Arconic ABS Level 1 certification (internal candidates).
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience with Kaizen events, Daily Management processes, TPM/AM, and Problem Solving.
  • Ability to utilize Lean tools to generate meaningful, quantified improvement in: cost reduction, efficiency, reduced inventory, shortened cycle or lead times, improved quality and reliability, on-time delivery, or safety.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing theories, methodologies, standards, and tools.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and teaming skills including the ability to work well on cross-functional teams at all levels in the organization.
  • Excellent communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with senior management (written and verbal) in English.
  • Understanding of financial and non-financial metrics necessary to achieve Plant and BU Hoshin goals
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization; ability to prepare and present training; ability to influence.
  • Computer Skills - knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).Good planning and organizational skills; ability to prioritize and accomplish tasks in a fast-paced environment.
