Job Description

SUMMARY
Employee will use power tools, air arching equipment, or billet grinder, to remove excess metal and surface defects from manufacturing parts, or accessory parts prior to buffing, or plating by performing the following duties.
 
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties and responsibilities include the following, other duties may be required and assigned at any time.
 
Selects abrasive belt or wheel according to grain size, type of finish specified, product being polished, or amount of metal to be removed.
 
Must move parts on and off pallets.
 
Attaches wheel or belt to drive mechanism.
 
Starts polisher and manipulates work piece against abrasive wheel or portable wheel against work piece to remove metal and surface defects.
 
Examines part for acceptability of finish, cracks.
 
Clean and dispose of trash in work area.
 

Qualifications

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
 
 
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
 
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
 
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must posses valid drivers license, be a resident of the United States, or be legally permitted to work in the United States.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.  The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles.  The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, extreme heat, and vibration.  The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
