Job Description

Primary purpose of the job:

Program all the production CNC machines at our Cranberry location, including creating %22macros%22 for each fabrication, and work lists for each job.  Clean drawings, nest parts, and convert drawings into tool paths for the %22Scribe Plate CNC%22.   Support maintenance to identify root causes of errors and breakdowns.  Calibrate CNC machines as required as part of established TPM process.  Participate in all cross-functional team meetings where new product & fabrications are required to support Kawneer’s Customer requirements.  Act as technical expert to Design & Application Engineering team members related to capabilities & “Design for Manufacturability” of CNC equipment and other fabrication equipment.  Perform dwg / work order review to ensure smooth and efficient transfer of technical information from Engineering to CNC / fabrication operators.  Support Help Chain calls from the CNC & fabrication center operators.

  • Creates ad-hoc macros and work lists for prototypes and test jobs.
  • Develops alternate ways to make preps to increase flexibility and optimize resources
  • Supports maintenance to identify root causes of errors and breakdowns.
  • Assists in assessment of new fabrication equipment.
  • Creates drawings for CNC blocks.  Keeps CNC Block books up to date.
  • Edits work orders as needed to correct errors and reports errors to manager.
  • Calibrate Emmegi CNC machines after maintenance or as needed.
  • Trains back up CNC Programmer and CNC operators to use machines.
  • Able to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks/duties as assigned.


Basic or Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 1 year experience in a manufacturing, facilities, or warehouse environment.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering preferred.
  • A minimum of 1 year CNC programming experience is preferred.
  • Prior management experience.
