Arconic Fastening Systems (AFS) is seeking an experienced CNC Programmer to support our Manufacturing department at our Sylmar, CA location.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Must be able to read and understand blueprints and drawings
  • Implement New Tooling and Standardize Existing Tooling for the facility
  • Standardize Fixtures and assist in maintaining inventory for fixturing Manage Trial Tooling – track tooling life, cost / benefit analysis, etc.
  • Drive cycle time improvements, working with set up team as necessary
  • Assist with projects related to cost savings as directed by Operations Manager
  • Responsible for program revision control for CNC machines
  • Responsible for backing up programs as required and organizing current programs
  • Train Employees on operation of machines as necessary
  • Create set up instruction for machinist, including zero and reference points
  • Check completed programs by running simulations or tests
  • Determine sequence of operation in a program
  • Choose proper cutting tools
  • Modify existing programs to increase efficiency and quality
  • Analyze and select speeds and feeds to optimize efficiency and surface finish
  • Prepare job package to issue to the shop floor
  • Order proper tooling
  • Preset tool using tool pre-setter
  • Able to work in a collaborate manner with manufacturing operators


Basic Qualifications:
  • Highschool diploma or GED required
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a CNC programming capacity
  • Minimum of 3-year experience with programming CNC Lathes
  • Minimum of 1-year experience with programming CNC Mills 
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • CNC certifications from accredited institution preferred
  • Previous Manufacturing Aerospace Industry Experience
  • Previous experience working in a union environment a plus
