Job Description

POSITION OVERVIEW
This position uses highly technical equipment to take exact measurements of castings to ensure they meet the customer’s specifications.
 
ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH & SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Expected to assist in the implementation of EHS Values and policy statements and accompanying principles.
  • Comply with all department, facility, corporate and regulatory EHS regulations.
  • Wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Report all job-related illness and injuries (Per Employee Handbook).
  • Report all safety, health and environmental concerns to your supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Attend all EHS training.
 
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • To utilize all customer supplied hard tooling to include, but not limited to loading, best fit balancing, machining and recording all information for engineering without the need for supervision.
  • Set up jobs to be run on CMM, machines.  Troubleshoot as required to keep the program running.
  • Run programs on the coordinate measurement machine and interpret results with regards to rework or acceptance criteria.
  • Complete proper paperwork, such as AQL’s.
  • Interact with engineering and layout departments to learn and understand new gauging techniques.
  • Perform hand held gauging, verniers, Pi tapes, height gauges, contour templates, etc. on all castings.  May be required to record data on out of tolerance castings at gauging operations.
  • Operate hand tools (various belt guns, grinders, belts, stones, press, precision drills, etc.)
  • Keep clean working environment and work well individually in an atmosphere of teamwork.
  • Any other duties as assigned by supervision.
  • Responsible for verifying calibration stickers before working the job.
  • Responsible or verifying routers are correct before working the job.
  • Successful completion on the job training of how to run programs, interpret results, complete paperwork, operate hand tools, reading and interpreting weld and engineering maps and/or blueprints.
  • Successful completion of probationary period with skilled operator, some departments may require 6-12 months to become proficient.
  • Must be able to work independently and demonstrate good decision-making skills and the ability to interpret instructions. Some departments may require periodic testing to retain three-year certification.
  • Successful completion of Coordinate Measuring Machine Training course or demonstrate equal proficiency in CMM operation.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
•       Must have good eyesight, steady hand, and patience.
•       Strong reading, writing and spoken English language skills.
•       Proficient in elementary mathematics; some tasks may require use of algebraic equations.
•       Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to conceptualize three-dimensionally.
•       Strong working knowledge of basic computer operations (must learn DOC/WINDOWS/OS2/programs.)
•       Working knowledge of all departmental procedures and policies regarding paperwork.

Qualifications

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
•       This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. ‘Green Card Holder’)
•       Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position
•       No relocation benefit is offered for this position. Candidates residing within 50 miles radius of Dover NJ will only be considered.
•       High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
