Job Description

Arconic Cleveland Operations, a forging facility located at 1600 Harvard Ave., is seeking a Chief Quality Systems Engineer to join its Quality Department. Under the direction of the Quality Manager, this position is responsible for supervising, coaching, and mentoring all direct reports of Quality Systems, Supplier Quality and NDT Inspection.  He/she communicates continually with Quality/Metallurgical, Operations, Supply Chain, Technical, Sales and Marketing personnel to ensure compliance to applicable quality system standards, customer requirements, and industry specifications.
  Accountability Objectives: Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Direct Oversight of the Quality Systems, Supplier Quality and NDT personnel that support the Cleveland Works forging business. This includes managing, directing, and holding accountable a multi-disciplined staff, acting as a project manager for multifunctional teams on process improvement activities and new product qualification support, leading and coordinating all quality and customer related internal and external audits, and leading team in assigned development programs for improved products and processes.
  • Assuring, validating, and certifying the quality of all Cleveland Works produced Aerospace forgings and products to meet customer and aerospace industry requirements. This includes overseeing the quality systems team, coordination with outside sources, and providing technical guidance to NDT personnel.
  • Developing and maintaining quality assurance systems, procedures, and processes used by the Quality team and partnering staffs to meet product liability obligations, customer specifications and industry quality requirements. This includes providing inspection support for product and process activities relative to forgings.
  • Developing and managing work practices that maximize operational efficiencies. This includes leading continuous improvement, LEAN manufacturing initiatives, and process stability activities to reduce waste and cost.
  • Interfacing with customers and suppliers through emails, phone calls, and monthly visits to develop product and quality strategies and solutions that meet customer specifications and company quality requirements.
  • Maintaining and controlling all applicable inspection work instructions for aerospace parts. This includes reviewing, clarifying, and updating quality system documentation which hourly inspection employees are required to follow to meet customer and industry specifications.
  • Monitoring and analyzing key quality performance indicators and process operations and recommending corrective actions to team.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.



  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. 
  • Minimum of 5 years manufacturing experience.


  • Minimum of 5 years of experience using AS9100 and/or IS9001 quality systems standards management systems, Quality Assurance and NDT technical competency.

  • Minimum of 5 years of engineering process design, feasibility studies, and project management experience in a manufacturing industry.
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10 Years manufacturing experience

  • Certified in ASQ, AS9100 quality systems standard (preferred), and/or ISO9001.
  • Experience with root cause corrective action and problem solving (i.e.: 5 Why, 8-D or Six Sigma methodology), along with internal auditing quality experience.
  • Working knowledge of NADCAP special processes.  Defect recognition with NDT inspection of aerospace parts and Level I/II/III certification are beneficial.
  • Ability to effectively delegate while maintaining forward motion on key deliverables.
  • High degree of interpersonal skills to motivate and influence others, including those not under his/her direct supervision.

  • Demonstrated ability for problem solving, systems thinking, project management, and team building.
  • Previous experience in a unionized environment.
