Arconic is currently in search of a Category Specialist, to join our Kawneer business in Norcross, GA.
Kawneer is the leading manufacturer of architectural aluminum products and systems for the commercial construction industry. Kawneer is part of Arconic’s global Building and Construction Systems (BCS) business unit, which manufactures and markets architectural systems and products in North America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. 
The Category Specialist is responsible for assigned Categories within BCS and the management of critical supplier relationships in conjunction with the BCS Procurement Site Leads.  The Category Specialist will also execute on relevant Procurement strategies, measures, and activities for their assigned site locations.
  • The overall goal is to achieve the best total cost position for all external spend within the Categories & sites, the lowest sourcing risks, best supplier performances to ensure the highest efficiency and effectiveness of the Procurement team.
  • He/she serves as the point of contact for supplier issues within the assigned categories including issues related to service, commercial terms and contract disputes.
  • He/she is directly responsible for the Plant Procurement targets for the assigned sites.
  • He/she has to execute global best-in-class procurement processes using state-of-the-art procurement IT software support, ensuring the Procurement organization is utilizing the maximum potential within global and local markets (Cost Savings, Innovation, Quality, Logistics).
Key Responsibilities
  • Direct responsibility for spend within the respective Categories (Global/Regional demand)
  • Achieve Procurement targets for assigned categories (cost, innovation, quality)
  • Develops and executes Procurement strategies such as Low-Cost Country Sourcing strategies
  • Maintains business relationships with representatives of strategic suppliers for categories.
  • Collaborates with other category managers and other functions using forums such as workshops to achieve category cost savings targets
  • Leads, co-leads, or supports commercial sourcing activity across all categories as required to meet company objectives (e.g. e-Auction, RfX processes)
  • Leads, co-leads, or supports non-commercial events as required to meet objectives, including, but not limited to Kaizen workshops, Working Capital/Inventory Workshops
  • Executes contract negotiations/Terms and Conditions with suppliers classified in category
  • Accountable for Performance areas: Cost Savings (SRT), Supplier performance, challenging of material & service specifications (demand management), procurement organizational efficiency
  • Communicates supplier issues to BU Procurement Sr. Director
  • Participates in supplier meetings jointly with other organizational colleagues if relevant


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Management, Supply Chain, Logistics, Information Technology, Politics/Political Science, Policy, Finance, Accounting, Data Science/Analytics, Marketing/Communications, Economics, Mathematics, or Engineering from an accredited Institution
  • 3 years of previous work experience in Supply Chain, Procurement or Customer Service
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 4 years of previous work experience in Supply Chain, Procurement or Customer Service
  • Experience in a manufacturing or construction environment
  • CPSM certification
