Arconic Engineered Structures (AES) is seeking a Category Manager for the AES Business Unit specializing in transportation and logistics. This position is primarily responsible for commodity categories including but not limited to Transportation and Logistics as well as the management of critical supplier relationships in conjunction with the AES Category Lead or Global Director of Procurement Operations.  This position will be based in Cleveland, Ohio. The ideal candidate must be able to execute global best-in-class procurement processes and ensure the Procurement organization is utilizing the maximum potential within the Global, North American, and local markets. The primary purpose of this role is the management of the assigned commodity and supplier relationships, including functioning as the point of contact for the business unit on supplier issues regarding service, commercial terms, contract disputes, and strategy. The overall goal is to achieve the best total cost position and develop optimal sourcing strategies for all external spend to ensure the highest efficiency and effectiveness of the AES Procurement team. This role is responsible for managing the discovery, implementation, leveraging, and sustainability of all plant-based activities related to shipment execution. 
The Category Manager, Transportation & Logistics position includes both creation of strategic vision and tactical management. Role accountabilities include but are not limited to:
  • Oversee spend within the respective Categories of Transportation and Logistics across our AES business locations in North America.
  • Achieve Procurement targets across AES for assigned categories of Transportation and Logistics (cost, innovation, quality).
  • Develop benchmark shipment execution processes in the market for continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Maintain business relationships with representatives of strategic suppliers for assigned categories.
  • Collaborate with other Procurement Operations team members and Business Unit Maintenance and Engineering functions using forums such as workshops to achieve category cost savings targets.
  • Lead, co-lead, or support implementation of improvement initiative activity across all assigned categories as required to meet BU and Company objectives.
  • Monitor improvement implementation activities to ensure sustainability across the business unit.
  • Execute contract negotiations on commercial terms and conditions with suppliers classified in category or as assigned by Procurement leadership.
  • Manage performance areas such as Cost Savings (SRT), Supplier Performance, and Productivity.
  • Develop and execute commercial plans on a year over year basis in accordance with business unit objectives.
  • Develop reports to track benefits realized by process improvements or track losses due to lack of implementation of key transportation initiatives.
  • Communicate with a wide range of stakeholders in finance, operations, engineering, business unit leadership; influence metal buyers/planners to ensure successful execution of contract parameters.
  • Transportation — Knowledge of principles and methods for moving people or goods by air, rail, sea, or road, including the relative costs and benefits.
  • Production and Processing — Knowledge of transportation services, company production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective distribution of goods.
  • Administration and Management — Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
  • Economics and Accounting — Knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices, the financial markets, and the analysis and reporting of financial data.
  • Mastery of Technology Skills —Oracle E-Business Suite, SAP; Spreadsheet software: Microsoft Excel; Office Suite software: Microsoft Office.
  • Law and Government — Knowledge of laws, legal codes, government regulations, executive orders, and agency rules.
  • Customer and Personal Service — Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction. Critical Thinking — Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Negotiation — Bringing others together and trying to reconcile differences.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Management, Supply Chain, Logistics, Information Technology, Finance, Accounting, Data Science/Analytics, Marketing/Communications, Economics, Mathematics, or Engineering from an accredited Institution
  • Minimum 5 years of work experience in Procurement, Transportation, Supply Chain, or Logistics services
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. ‘Green Card Holder’) Political Asylee, or Refugee.  
Preferred Qualifications:
  • MBA in Business, Business Administration, Economics, Supply Chain, Logistics, or Finance
  • Minimum of 2 years international transportation, logistics or import/export services
  • Minimum of 4 years of project management experience
