Job Description

Primary Purpose of the Job
  • Category Management is responsible for assigned Global Category within the Procurement Organization. Category Manager manages critical supplier relationships in conjunction with Category Management Director.
  • The overall goal is to achieve the best total cost position for all external spend within the Global Category, the lowest sourcing risks, best supplier performances and ensuring highest efficiency and effectiveness of the Category Management team.
  • He/she serves as the point of contact for supplier issues within the assigned categories and issues related to service, commercial terms and contract disputes.
  • He/she has to execute global best-in-class procurement processes using state-of-the-art procurement IT software support to ensure that the Category Management organization is utilizing the maximum potential of the global and local markets (Cost Savings, Innovation, Quality, Logistics).

Mayor activities/Key challenges

  • Responsible for assigned Category Management functions of the Category Group
  • Direct responsible for Arconic spend within the respective Category (worldwide demand/cross Groups and BUs)
  • Strives to achieve Procurement targets worldwide with regards to his/her Procurement Categories
  • Develops and executes Procurement strategies, including Low Cost Country Sourcing strategies
  • Maintains business relationship to representatives of strategic suppliers for category
  • Includes Procurement Engineering functions in workshops to achieve cost savings target in categories
  • Leads, co-leads, or supports commercial sourcing activity across all categories as required to meet company objectives (e.g. e-Auction, RfX processes)
  • Leads, co-leads, or supports non-commercial events as required to meet objectives, including, but not limited to Kaizen workshops, Working Capital/Inventory Workshops
  • Executing contract negotiations/Terms and Conditions with suppliers classified in category

Essential Knowledge & Skills/Education
  • Minimum 5 years experience in purchasing management, including 2 years international or global role
  • College degree Business Administration/Economics or similar
  • Bachelors Degree
  • MBA preferred
  • Decision-making
  • Communication and negotiation skills
  • Business acumen
  • Customer-oriented

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Supply Chain, Economics, Business or Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in purchasing management, including 2 years international or global experience
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
