Job Description

The Group Leader is the first level of authority on a flow path providing the Team Leaders and individual Team Members with clear direction and boundaries regarding safety, quality, cost, production requirements and equipment reliability while implementing and building ownership and commitment for the Arconic Business System (ABS). The Group Leader provides training, coaching, counseling and resources as needed by the Team Leader and Production Employees.
  • Provides supervision and direction (assignments, decision-making, recognition, performance, and discipline) to Team Leaders and Production Employees.
  • Sponsors ABS implementation in his/her area.
  • Coaches/teaches the Team Leader and Team Members on ABS tools:
  • Problem solving
  • Problem solver for area related problems.
  • Encourages small group problem solving activities using the help chain.
  • Leads the investigation of safety incidents, works on preventive safety techniques with teams.
  • Provides first response to Team Leaders and Production Employees when customer demand (Pull) is jeopardized, or area shuts down due to safety and/or quality problems.
  • Directs utilization of formal problem solving process to resolve system related problems, quality problems, and human relations problems.
  • Decides on what resources (help chain) to call based on problem severity (impact on safety, quality, etc.) when pulled by Team Leaders. Maintains strong working relationships with help chain members.
  • When in “ahead” or “behind” conditions across the area, instructs Team Members on necessary actions to take and implement necessary countermeasures as needed.
  • Facilitates problem solving, continuous improvement, and Kaizen activities including cost reduction activities with the Team Leaders and Production Employees.
  • Develops a training matrix for Team Leaders and Production Employees.


Basic Qualifications :
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.

Preferred Qualifications :
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience leading direct reports.
  • Casthouse experience is a plus.
