Arconic is currently in search of a Lean Manufacturing/Continuous Improvement Specialist to join our global Rolled Products (GRP), business unit in Alcoa, TN. Arconic’s Tennessee Operations, is one of the most modern aluminum fabricating facilities in the world. Our plants produce high-quality molten metal and aluminum sheet, and are recognized as a world leader in the business. The facility has been located at the Foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains for 100 years, and continues to thrive and grow. 
 
Arconic Business System (ABS) is an integrated set of systems and tools organized to provide a common language and enable transfer of knowledge to apply systematic principles driving lean manufacturing. These tools are used to improve safety, productivity, cost competitiveness, and growth in all phases of our business.
 
The Arconic Lean Manufacturing/Continuous Improvement Specialist will be responsible for coaching, guiding, and leading the transformation of Tennessee Operations to a lean manufacturing culture and will provide profit focus/results orientation leadership – resulting in increased cost savings implemented through the Degrees of Implementation (DI) system. 
 
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Lead and apply Lean Manufacturing and other continuous improvement initiatives;
  • Prioritize, guide, and facilitate the activities of the manufacturing function to meet organizational goals, initiatives and requirements;
  •  Oversee the development of standard policies, procedures and practices to ensure customer requirements are embodied in manufacturing processes;
  • Establish and maintain uniform manufacturing performance metrics and reporting systems;
  • Reaffirm existing production goals, or establish new goals, and lead the group effort to achieve those goals;
  • Ensure operations metrics are well-known, and track daily progress toward achieving objectives;
  • Coach and/or lead cross-functional continuous improvement initiatives;
  • Develop the capabilities of those in the department through teaching, coaching, establishing high standards, and ensuring accountability;
  • Exhibit and promote an attitude on the plant floor that leads to an engaged and energized workforce;
  • Drive improvements by developing and implementing systems and procedures based on data analysis;
  • Utilize best practice methodologies and develop new technologies;
  • Perform other work related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution;
  • A minimum of 5 ­years of experience working in a manufacturing environment;
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience deploying/implementing Lean Manufacturing principles;
  • Expert Level with Excel and PowerPoint (charting, graphing);
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position;
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Degree in Lean Manufacturing from an accredited institution;
  • Lean Manufacturing specialized training program and/or certification;
  • Certification in Six Sigma.
