Job Description

Arconic Cleveland Operations, a forging facility located at 1600 Harvard Avenue, is seeking qualified applicants for the Bench Hand position. The Bench Hand position is an hourly, bargaining unit role.

Candidates will perform a variety of tasks including the following: Perform all tasks and coordinate all activities necessary to assemble, disassemble, bench, maintain, and/or make repairs to dies and fixtures. Under the direction of die sinkers and welders, assist with the execution of their job functions such as assisting with setting up machine tools, loading and unloading of die heaters, cleaning tooling and machines used within the process. Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, check sheets, computers and all associated documentation that details work connected to the primary job function. Evaluate, inspect and document the condition of dies and die components and log the status of the job.

Tools and equipment used on the job include but are not limited to the following: drill presses, grinding machines, pneumatic impact wrenches, pneumatic die grinders, hand tools, stamps, measuring tools, band saws, die cleaning equipment, drill and tool sharpening machines, machinist tools, computers, overhead cranes, plasma torches, and die heaters.

Candidates must have the flexibility to work any shift and any day. This position requires overtime and standard work hours on weekdays as well as weekends.

Basic Qualifications

Must have a high school diploma OR GED equivalent from an accredited institution.

Preferred Qualifications

Journeyman's card OR 4 years of experience in tooling and machining.
Minimum of 1 year of welding experience.
Minimum of 1 year of CNC programming experience.
