Job Description


This opening is in our Kawneer business located in Norcross, GA.  We are the leading manufacturer of architectural aluminum products and systems for the commercial construction industry. Kawneer is part of Arconic’s global Building and Construction Systems (BCS) business unit, which manufactures and markets architectural systems and products in North America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. 
 
The Global Human Resource Director is responsible for managing Human Resource related issues and providing support to business leaders, plant and human resource managers and to serve as a change manager.  The role will report directly to the HRVP with a dotted line responsibility to the Business Unit President.
 
Job Responsibilities and Duties:
 
  • Work with the HR function and business leaders to support business plan objectives and be an active member of the BCS Lead Team;
  • Be responsible for the creating and executing the HR strategy across the business unit. The strategy will have a focus on workforce planning, talent acquisition, development and retention, organization design, employee engagement, and employee relations;
  • Partner as necessary with Shared People Services to ensure a stable and consistently performing HR infrastructure for the business;
  • Work closely with the Business Unit President and other members of the senior leadership team to support the daily tactical and longer term strategic needs of the business.
 
Major Activities and Key Challenges Include:
  • Acts as the owner of all Company HR processes, working with global HR leaders to ensure delivery of information before due dates;  
  • Establish credibility throughout the organization with management and the employees to be an effective coach and problem solver of people issues. Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues;
  • Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues. Conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations. Partner with legal department as needed/required;
  • Support the business to develop and attain diversity goals;
  • Drive the development of high performing HR Team;
  • Guide plant locations on enhancing Arconic’s relationship with customers at various levels, and to help in decision making to support business objectives;
  • Guide and support plant locations to develop and align community strategy with key business priorities to drive Arconic brand and employee engagement;
  • Guide the human resources organization, ensuring strong competencies in leadership and organization development, compensation strategy and administration, HR systems and talent management;
  • Manage Compensation policies and practices for the business unit as necessary.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution;
  • Minimum of 8 years of Human Resource experience;
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States.  Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire.  Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s Degree or MBA in Human Resource Management from an accredited institution;
  • Experience working with large scale manufacturing, small scale manufacturing, commercial and back office functions;
  • Demonstrated experience driving a progressive HR strategy within a complex environment;
  • Demonstrated experience within a business unit that operates in a multi-site, decentralized manner, with international locations;
  • Experience must include positions of increasing leadership responsibility in all areas of HR and from all HR vantage points (Corporate, BU etc);
  • Strong talent management experience including workforce planning and succession planning;
  • Experience improving employee engagement;
  • Proven performance management leadership.;
  • Ability to understand issues domestically and internationally and communicate effectively;
  • In-depth knowledge of legal requirements to guide leadership, providing HR policy guidance and interpretation to support minimization of legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance;
  • Strong ability to multi-task and work on multi-functional projects.
