Primary Purpose of the job:

The Assistant Controller is responsible for all areas relating to financial reporting. This position will be responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. The Assistant Controller is responsible for managing the team to ensure that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner. This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, year-end audit preparation and the support of budget and forecast activities. The Assistant Controller will have contact with business and operational lead team which requires strong interpersonal communication skills both written and verbal.

Major activities/Key Challenges:
  • Ensure general ledger and financial statements are complete and accurate.
  • Manage accounts receivable, accounts payable, and invoicing functions
  • Manage month end and year end accounting closing processes.
  • Ensures month end deadlines are met.
  • Ensures financial statements are accurately stated before closing the accounting period.
  • Ensure completion of Arconic’s self assessment testing (ASAT) requirements are met.
  • Ensure compliance with Arconic and business unit financial reporting requirements.
  • Perform general ledger reconciliations and account analysis.
  • Responsible for the integrity of the closing process for Oracle and JDE systems.
  • Prepare and ensure that all journal entries are prepared in accordance with GAAP and Alcoa policy.
  • Assist Controller with gathering data and preparing reports for key personnel as requested.
  • Provide analytical support in order to help drive business decisions: Product Margin Analysis, Working Capital Assessment, Risks & Opportunities, etc.
  • Support the financial forecasting, annual planning and bridging activities.
  • Assist with analysis and reporting from corporate productivity tracker.
  • Leading, supervising and coaching the development and activities of the accounting team.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in finance or accounting within a manufacturing environment.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Graduate degree.
  • Communications skills – written and verbal/phone.
  • Strong leadership, analytical, and human relations skills.
  • Organizational/time management skills.
  • Problem solve to “Root Cause” and understanding of lean management principles.
  • Excellent Microsoft skills (Excel, Access, PowerPoint) and enhanced knowledge of Excel, Hyperion or other data reporting tools.
  • Supervision and experience within a manufacturing environment is a plus.
  • Understanding of self-assessments or internal audit process.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of GAAP.
  • History of forecasting, variance analysis and financial reporting.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of integrated control systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
  • Oracle/JDE Experience preferred.
  • Self-Starter with the eagerness to seek opportunities and stretch capabilities.
