Job Summary:
Operate the Articulating Arm CMM and stationary CMM machines in the Tool and Die and Fabrication Departments. This position will be responsible for inspection of Titanium sheet form parts an machined components critical to the work centers and frequently the tooling used in their production. The CMM Operator will be responsible for inspecting the sheet material and machined parts, finished blanks, Tool and Die components, and the documentation of product and process conformance.
Fundamental Duties:
  • Create and use Polyworks and CMM Manager based CMM Programs along with conventional measuring devices to determine conformance of parts to Engineering drawings and specifications, throughout the manufacturing process
  • Validate Machining Processes Integrity By Verification Of First Piece Inspection
  • Provide First Piece Off inspections as required or requested
  • Verify accuracy of gauges & standards used for First Piece Off inspections
  • Validate accuracy and completeness of Manufacturing Router to ensure identification, traceability and inspection status requirements are completed and current at designated inspection points throughout the manufacturing process
  • Audit Operator Self-Inspection process
  • Complete inspections of finished component parts and various forms of tooling to drawing requirements
  • Liaison with Engineering for process development.
  • Generate First Article Inspection (FAI) documentation compliant to AS9102 and Customer requirements
  • Generate Nonconformance Reports (NCR’s) for parts that do not meet Engineering requirements
  • Participate in Operations Meeting whenever needed by providing information for preventive or corrective actions
  • Verify Manufacturing Jigs, Dies, & Fixtures for conformance to requirements
  • General knowledge of hydraulics and mechanics to operate articulating arm and troubleshoot when preventative maintenance is required
  • Report all actual or potential non-conforming conditions for preventive or corrective actions
  • Assist with Root Cause and Corrective Action
  • Provide information to Engineering with respect to product and process improvements that reduce cycle time, defects, rework or scrap
  • Eventually train employees how to use Portable CMM’s
  • Daily Operator maintenance of CMM equipment including calibration exercises required or recommended by the Arm manufacturer
  • Conducts self at all times in a professional manner and adheres to all company policies, procedures and health and safety requirements
  • Other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.

Preferred Qualifications

Skill & Competency Requirements:
  • Knowledge of Metrology and CAD systems strongly encouraged. High school graduate for GED equivalency
  • Must have good basic math skills such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and decimal/fraction conversions
  • Must have good communication skills
  • 2 years experience in related field
  • Must have basic computer skills and be willing to learn specific transactions in SAP and TiMES.
  • Must be detail oriented, self-motivated and be able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Experience in sheet metal manufacturing is preferred.
  • Must have basic knowledge of math, math equations and use their use in various measuring instruments
  • Must work a full-time schedule and overtime as required
  • Must have basic computer skills
  • Must have problem solving skills, good communication skills, and the ability to work with others
  • Required to read and interpret production orders and safety, operating, maintenance, and procedure manuals
  • Required to use inspection tools and to operate all equipment necessary to perform the job.
