Arconic is seeking an Area Manager located at our Canton, OH facility. The Area Manager -Ferro Titanium Operations, reporting to the Niles and Canton Melt Plant Manager, oversees the Ferro Titanium and Ferro Aluminum melting facility. Responsibilities include P&L accountability to achieve the Annual Operating Plan and ensuring Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and People goals are met.

Key Responsibilities & Duties:
  • Ensure effective safety and quality culture and accountability are integrated into daily operations.
  • Increase productivity and throughput of operations at FeTi through interactions with production supervisor and hourly employees, to meet or exceed targets.
  • Identify and address quality, cost, and throughput improvement opportunities in the manufacturing flow path; develop and implement solutions with Continuous Improvement tools and processes.
  • Trend critical metrics to inform strategy and facility growth.
  • Explore alternatives for the manufacturing processes that may provide growth opportunities or improve safety, quality, and profitability.
  • Manage the P&L, including revenue targets via customer interaction, annual operating budgets, cost management and efficiency improvement, to support the financial goals of the organization.
  • Provide leadership and direction to ensure a competent and motivated workforce.
  • Effectively communicate department initiatives and foster an environment of collaboration and cooperation.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives and Human performance system
  • In partnership with the assigned and supporting Commercial team, develop and maintain business relationships with key accounts/markets and implement sales tactics to ensure revenue and profit growth.
  • Manage inventory and purchase raw material input
  • Assist in special projects to support the Melt team and Business Unit.


Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution
  • Minimum 5 years of manufacturing experience
  • Minimum 3 years of supervisory and/or management experience
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position


Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business Management or finance
  • Self-directed, self-motivated, proven leader who has demonstrated driving change in a heavy industrial environment.
  • Proven ability to work with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong track record of developing highly efficient teams on the shop floor.
  • Seven years of progressive experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably metals melting or maintenance.
  • Five years’ experience in a supervisory / management role with strong leadership, communication and organizational skills.
  • Formal training in Lean Manufacturing and or Six Sigma preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience successfully managing multiple tasks and prioritizing workload, while paying attention to detail.
  • Possess excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills for supporting all aspects of the melting infrastructure.
  • Ability to balance and achieve positive results in the areas of safety, employee relations, quality, productivity and cost.
  • Knowledge of OSHA and environmental regulatory agency directives.
  • Intermediate to advanced skill level in Microsoft Office. Experience with SAP a plus.
