This opening is in our Kawneer North America business and is based in Harrisonburg, VA. We are the leading manufacturer of architectural aluminum products and systems for the commercial construction industry. Kawneer is part of Arconic’s global Building and Construction Systems (BCS) business unit, which manufactures and markets architectural systems and products in North America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.

As a part of the Major Projects Group, the 3D Modeling Supervisor will provide support to manage the Major Projects front-end team thru the deliverable process including, but not limited to, submission drawings, takeoffs, engineering, and manufacturing support.

Job Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Review, understand and be intimately familiar with the varieties of content that may be received on a specific project to include, but are not limited to: 2D paper and 2D/3D digital information (wire frames, Revit models, Inventor files, Google-sketch-up);
  • Identify roadmap(s) for the project deliverable based on the received information;
  • Create and manage department schedule (including resource management) to support the MP business unit;
  • Review, familiarize and understand available Kawneer fenestration system designs;
  • Train personnel to support the needs of the modeling team;
  • Manage modeling team and content in a cloud based environment;
  • Develop the presentation format for contractual submission;
  • Work with intracompany departments to develop (and continuously improve) the extraction/creation of support information (ex. unit drawings, bill-of-materials, crating diagrams) from the model to support internal processes (ex. estimating, takeoff and manufacturing);
  • Develop a cross-check system to ensure accuracy of produced work;
  • Support estimating, project management, manufacturing processes and field services.
Major Activities and Key Challenges Include:
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of aluminum fenestration systems (including surrounding trades);
  • Possess a strong work ethic, sense of ownership and the ability to lead others to obtain a goal;
  • Possess problem solving abilities;
  • Experience in developing an organization's modeling infrastructure to support the construction industry;
  • Possess flexibility to accommodate project schedules to ensure deliverables are completed on time;
  • Experience with other BIM technologies (i.e. Revit / Inventor / Solidworks / sketchup).

Basic Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) from an accredited institution;
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience with 3D CAD software (AutoCAD, Solidworks, Inventor, etc.);
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hiring. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's degree from an accredited institution;
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the construction industry;
  • Minimum 4 years of supervisory and / or management experience;
  • Experience with Autodesk Inventor 2016 or newer;
  • Certification in Autodesk Inventor;
  • Participates with Autodesk University (events or online);
  • Experience in operating in a cloud-based, collaborative environment.
  • Knowledge of architectural systems, preferably Kawneer products.
