Building and Construction Systems, a business unit of Arconic, is the leading manufacturer of architectural aluminum products and systems for the commercial construction industry. Kawneer is part of Arconic’s global Building and Construction Systems (BCS) business unit, which manufactures and markets architectural systems and products in North America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. 
Position Summary:
We have an immediate need for two additional 3D Modelers for our Harrisonburg, VA Major Projects team.  These positions will support the Major Projects team to create, and extract content from project models for submission, takeoff and manufacturing purposes.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Review and understand project documents, which can include 2D paper, 2D digital, and 3D digital information;
  • Review, familiarize and understand project system designs;
  • Demonstrate the applicable scope of work by applying 3D (Inventor) content to wire frames (Modeling);
  • Review the Models for potential conflicts;
  • Create 3D/2D representations of the Model in a presentation format for contractual submission;
  • Extract/create support information (ex. unit drawings, bill-of-materials, crating diagrams) from the Model to support internal processes (ex. estimating, takeoff and manufacturing);
  • Cross-check teammate work (when assigned);
  • Support estimating, project management, manufacturing processes and field services. 
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Must have demonstrated working knowledge of Autodesk, Revit and/or Inventor software;
  • Strong work ethic, sense of ownership and the ability to direct others to obtain a goal;
  • Ability to follow work instructions with an aptitude to learn new software;
  • Creative thinking with problem solving abilities;
  • Willingness to offer recommendations to improve quality/systems/process (not soft-spoken, but respectful);
  • Flexibility to accommodate project schedule to ensure deliverables are completed on time;
  • Experience with BIM technologies (i.e. Revit/Inventor/Navisworks/HSMWorks/Solidworks/Sketchup).
 Major Customers:
  • Internal: Pre-construction/estimating, engineering, project management, manufacturing/fabrication;
  • Kawneer Commercial Sales Organization;
  • Potential exposure to 3rd party vendor manufacturers producing fabrication, assembly and glazed products.


Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma and 2+ years of experience with Autodesk Revit and/or Inventor;
  • Experience operating in a cloud-based, collaborative environment (Autodesk BIM360 Design).
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States.  Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire.  Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Architectural/Structural Technician degree or Autodesk Certification;
  • 2+ years of experience with Autodesk Revit and/or Inventor (2018 or newer preferred);
  • 2+ years of experience in the construction industry preferred.
