Job Description


  • Design, implement and manage a robust customs compliance program for AEN casting and Firth UK and EU locations.  Define responsibility for completion of activities for the AEN casting and Firth UK and EU locations, and develop and define processes to perform these activities. 
  • Develop a personnel-training matrix that identifies what type of training is required, the timeframe for initial and renewable training, and tracks the status of the training program. Personally conduct training as required.
  • Design and implement an ongoing training program on import/export awareness for Plant personnel, focusing on non-product issues and the regulations around common commodities, including, but not limited to HMRC, ECO, EU, ITAR, EAR, CBP, Routed Transactions, TSCA, and other EU and EU country specific trade compliance agencies.
  • Develop and maintain a import/export matrix to include classifications, license requirements and shipment restrictions.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures for import and export activities in the areas of Compliance and Record keeping.
  • Holds the primary responsibility to assure the timely completion of the EXIM ASAT for all AEN casting and Firth locations in the UK and EU.
  • Be responsible for compliance oversight of reviewing and approving all import entries.
  • Represent the AEN casting and Firth UK and EU Locations in dealings with customers, suppliers and governmental agencies. Has Power of Attorney, granted by BU president or other officers for individual legal entities, to sign documents and file reports related to import/export shipments on behalf of the BU.
  • Manages the export license applications process to the HMRC and ECO e.g. SIELs, OGELs, UK GEAs, as well as US Technical Assistance Agreements (TAA), Manufacturing License Agreements (MLA) and Marketing Licenses.
  • Manage, the reviewal and approval processes for all export license request authorizations.
  • Functions as an expert resource to the AEN casting and Firth UK and EU locations, in the area of import/export transactions, policies and procedures.
  • Conducts periodic formal assessments, in conjunction with the AEN BU trade compliance team of the AEN casting and Firth UK and EU locations to ensure that policies and procedures are properly followed and that all activities and transactions are in compliance with the appropriate import/export laws. Reports to Management on issues and opportunities, and recommends solutions and project plans.
  • When required, develop and manage a duty drawback, or equivilant, program that identifies both current and future opportunities to reclaim duty paid on imported articles.
  • When required, develop and manage a FTZ to avoid or delay the appilication of dutuies on imports when appropriate, and or an IPR or similar program.
  • Work with the International Transportation Department, AEN BU Compliance Personnel, Other Arconic Business Units and Resource Units and Customs Brokers to ensure an efficient and effective process for import/export activities. Continually analyze processes and procedures for opportunities to eliminate waste, streamline for efficiency, and utilization of emerging tools and technologies.


•         College degree in a Technical or Businessdiscipline;
  • Significant experience in International Transportation/Logistics/Customs Compliance/import/export regulations required
  • Experience in a multi-plant manufacturing environment

Knowledge& Skills

  • Knowledge of the UKand EU trade Compliance regulations. 
  • Knowledge of the key AEN business systems involved in processing orders and shipping products.
  • Skilled in business process evaluation, documentation, compliance, and control.
  • Skilled project planner and team leader; works well leading projects. 
  • Composed professional demeanor, comfortable with interfacing at all levels of the organization as well as with representatives of the UK and EU Governments. 
  • Skilled user of MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
