Arconic Fastening Systems (AFS) is seeking a skilled machinist to work in our Machine Build/Rebuild Department in Fullerton.

  • Fabricate and assemble all tooling pertaining to custom machine automation including tooling prints, production prints etc;
  • Must be able to set up/operate all tool room type machinery;
  • Diagnose causes of malfunctions in machines, equipment, and related mechanisms by obtaining detailed information about their function, construction, and operating characteristics from manuals and other sources and by operating, observing, and/or testing with mechanical inspection devices and electronic instruments;
  • Identify, broken, worn or otherwise defective parts, assembly, tooling, and fixtures, and determine whether they can and/or should be repaired, rebuilt, or replaced;
  • Participate with engineers an manufacturing management in designing modifications to machines and equipment, and in determining the feasibility of and the time/cost factors related to the repair , rebuilding, and modification of machines and equipment;
  • Determine type, configuration, dimensions, quantity, quality, and/other characteristics of materials and parts required for repairing, rebuilding and/or modifying machines, equipment, and related mechanisms by analyzing and discussing plans, specifications, and/or general written or oral statements of need or concepts with engineers and manufacturing management personnel;
  • Describe materials, configurations, dimensions, specifications, and/or procedures required for fabricating and/or machining and/or treat heating and finishing parts, tools, fixtures, etc, by writing specifications and making sketches and shop drawings;
  • Determine whether parts, tooling, and fixtures can or should be repaired, rebuilt, or fabricated in-house, or whether services or items should be obtained from outside sources;
  • Request materials, tooling, and equipment as needed;
  • Lay out materials, and set-up and operate various machine shop machines and equipment to perform the difficult fabrication and machining of precision parts, tooling, fixtures, etc;
  • Provide less qualified machinists with specifications, instructions, and guidance, as required, for performing less difficult fabrication and machining of parts, tooling, fixtures, etc;
  • Inspect repaired, rebuilt, and new parts, assemblies, tooling, fixtures, etc., to ensure conformity to specifications. 


Basic Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a machine building/rebuilding environment;
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position;
