Arconic Engineered Structures (AES) is seeking a strong Accountant with high energy and drive. This position is accountable for coordinating and providing a broad range of financial and operational budgeting and recording activities for the AES Business Unit. This position will report to the AES Commercial Controller and be based in Cleveland, OH. Essential Functions: The Sr. Accountant, AES position includes both creation of strategic vision, tactical management and execution, examples include but are not limited to:
  • Develop, maintain, and analyze budgets and forecasts, preparing periodic reports that compare estimates to actual costs.
  • Preparation of meaningful variance analysis to budget, forecast, and prior year that identifies the root causes and helps develop action plans as needed. 
  • Prepare, examine, and analyze accounting records, financial statements, or other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards. 
  • Review accounts for discrepancies and reconcile differences. 
  • Prepare adjusting journal entries. 
  • Establish tables of accounts and assign entries to proper accounts. 
  • Analyze business operations, trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations to project future revenues and expenses and/or to provide advice. 
  • Develop, implement, modify, and document recordkeeping and accounting systems, making use of current computer technology. 
  • Advise management about issues such as resource utilization, tax strategies, and the assumptions underlying budget forecasts. 
  • Maintain or examine the records of government agencies. 
  • Compute taxes owed and prepare tax returns, ensuring compliance with payment, reporting, or other tax requirements. 
  • Survey operations to ascertain accounting needs and to recommend, develop, or maintain solutions to business and financial problems.
  • Completion of Arconic’s Sarbanes-Oxley requirements for internal controls, as required.
  • Support internal and external audit processes as needed
Essential Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Economics and Accounting — Knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices, the financial markets, banking and the analysis and reporting of financial data.
  • Mastery of Technology Skills — Accounting and Finance software: Essbase, Hyperion, Oracle E-Business Suite, SAP; Spreadsheet software: Microsoft Excel; Office Suite software: Microsoft Office.
  • Administration and Management — Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
  • Law and Government — Knowledge of laws, legal codes, government regulations, executive orders, and agency rules.
  • Customer and Personal Service — Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Critical Thinking — Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Oral and Written Expression — The ability to communicate information and ideas verbally and in writing so others will understand in a concise method.
  • Complex Problem Solving — Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.

  • Basic Qualifications:
    •Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited institution.
    •Minimum 3 years’ experience in finance 
    •Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
    •This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. ‘Green Card Holder’) Political Asylee, or Refugee.  

    Preferred Qualifications:
    •Minimum 5 years’ experience in finance in the manufacturing industry.
    •Master of Business Administration (MBA), CMA and/or Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
    •Experience with Cost Accounting
