Arconic is currently in search of an Project Lead, SQL & Web Applications to join our Global Information Services (GIS) Resource Unit in Pittsburgh, PA.
This role is responsible for technical leadership, architectural design, third level support and project delivery for Arconic's SQL Server and Web Applications area. The role is responsible for business analysis, planning, solution design, implementation, and third level support of solutions in the SQL Server Web Applications area. The role will work closely with the application teams located throughout the globe to deliver solutions for SQL and web-based applications and ensuring the projects are delivered that meet customer SLA’s and Arconic's compliance policies. The role is also responsible for development of the SQL Server and Web Applications strategy, including planning and communication of strategic upgrades and environment consolidations. This role requires project management skills, the ability to coordinate globally across time zones and regions, as well as provide technical leadership to both infrastructure system administrators and SQL Server and Web Applications Operational Support teams.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Architectural design and capacity planning for the SQL Server area.
  • Develop and document project requirements, including detailed specs, work estimates, timelines, deliverables and milestones, and license management.
  • Provide leadership and technical direction to infrastructure system administrators and operational support teams.
  • Lead the discovery, planning and implementation of process improvements in the SQL Server and Web Applications area.
  • Establish and maintain a high level of customer interaction in order to identify and recommend computer and business solutions to effectively and efficiently satisfy the data processing and information requirements of the business.
  • Operate within Arconic IS standards and conventions and applicable Arconic BU/RU IT standards.
  • Ensure compliance with all guidelines detailed in the IT ASAT (with a specific focus on business partnerships, change control, disaster recovery, and security) for SQL Server and Web Applications Infrastructure.
  • Develop backup and disaster recovery strategies for production environment
  • Recommendation of strategic investments in the SQL and Web Applications areas and evaluation of Cloud offering in the SQL and Web applications area.
  • Experience with the capacity planning, installation, configuration, log shipping, backup and recovery of SQL Server 2017/2016/2012.
  • Experience with the design and implementation of SQL Server Clusters (active/active, active/passive).
  • Experience in SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS) and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).
  • Experience performing upgrades of SQL Server 2017/2016/2012.
  • Experience in creating tables, stored procedures, views, indexes, cursors, triggers, user profiles and relational database models.
  • Experience in query optimization and performance tuning of stored procedures, functions and views.
  • Experience in creating business, functional and technical documentation
  • Must have strong human relation skills and be able to interact with internal and external customers, vendors, other IS professionals and GBS-IS management.
  • Must have project management experience in leading several large projects, and demonstrate a solid understanding of project management processes, methodologies, and techniques.
  • Must possess effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to provide work direction to larger teams and manage large projects.
  • Must be familiar with Arconic's infrastructure support processes.
  • Must have a strong familiarity with Arconic's business environment.          


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelors Degree from an accredited university
  • Minimum of 6 years’ experience working in SQL Support
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in project management and system life cycle
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in internal/external consulting role interacting with vendors
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
