Job Description

The Metrology Engineer will be located in the Arconic Research Center and will be responsible for assuring consistency in dimensional inspection systems, variable data collect and automation programming across all Arconic Engine operations for CMM, Optical and Laser scanning systems.  The Metrology Engineer will provide engineering oversite and technical support to all AEN operations related to dimensional inspection systems, programming and techniques while driving uniform standards.  Works with AEN purchasing to ensure all systems are procured to uniform standards and volume discounts are achieved.
 
The main responsibilities will include:
 
  • Ensuring that dimensional inspection processes are established in compliance with the materials, methods and machine specifications are required to ensure accurate results.
  • Drives standardization of dimensional inspection techniques, equipment and processes across all AEN facilities for CMM, Optical and Laser scanning.
  • Develops and implements automation scripts from CMM and ATOS systems to improve efficiency while maintain accuracy.
  • Establish and maintain calibration procedures for all dimensional inspection equipment.
  • Coordinate standardized hardware and software upgrades for existing CMM and ATPS fleet across the Business Unit.
  • Evaluates next generation dimensional inspection technology and makes recommendations to management regarding process capability and establishes Business Case for Capex


Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience working in general Layout, CMM programming and ATOS programming.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States.  Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire.  Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • This position is subject to the Internal Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status.
 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical engineering or Computer Science
  • Effective Oral and written communication skills.
  • Efficient analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of GDT Tolerating, 3D modeling (UG NX preferred) and automation programming of various dimensional inspection systems.
  • Working knowledge of computer applications (i.e. Microsoft Office products, graphics, and statistical analysis software).
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
