Arconic Engines is seeking a Health & Safety Specialist to manage and implement safety and industrial hygiene initiatives for the facility.  Arconic is a global company with best-in-class environmental, health and safety (EHS) programs.  This position is located at our aerospace forged rings plant in Rochester, NY.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the Illness and Injury Prevention Program for the facility
  • Support and manage the Arconic Corporate occupational health initiatives
  • Manage and report on Arconic ASATs (self-assessment tests) for the EHS Department
  • Work with the site's management team to drive overall reductions of accidents and injuries
  • Assist with accident investigations and follow-up with required corrective actions
  • Effectively administer the Company's safety audit and near miss systems
  • Regularly update training modules for all safety programs for the facility (hearing conservation, respiratory, etc...)
  • Manage the chemical database and SDS programs
  • Manage the Industrial Hygiene database
  • Conduct new hire and outside contractor safety orientations
  • Conduct training for safety requirements (hearing conservation, Employee RIght to Know, etc...)
  • Coordinate hearing conservation program and annual testing with the hearing conservation SPS (Single Point of Accountability) for the program
  • Create and submit EPCRA reports
  • Conduct industrial hygiene monitoring and analysis results
  • Ensure company compliance and assist with the management of the administration of all state and Federal requirements, including OSHA requirements and recordkeeping
  • Update and maintain the safety performance Communications boards regularly
  • Conduct a daily plant safety walk-through in each department
  • Quantify and present safety and health statistics to the EHS Manager
  • Assist with the coordination of the Return-to-Work and Restricted Duty programs
  • Conduct written program/procedure reviews and develop training curriculums based on these programs, as needed.  The EHS Specialist will provide support to the Rochester facility by working on a variety of safety and industrial hygiene related duties
  • Other tasks as assigned
 Skills:
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to conduct training sessions for all levels of staff
  • Advanced level proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
  • 1 year of EHS experience
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States.  Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire.  Visa sponsorship is not available for this position
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status.  ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. ‘Green Card Holder’), Political Asylee, or Refugee
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in EHS, Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Biology, Chemistry, or Public Health
  • 1 year of experience with Safety experience
  • 1 year of experience in an industrial manufacturing environment
  • Experience with OSHA regulations, including recordkeeping
  • Experience with Industrial Hygiene requirements, monitoring, and measurements
  • Experience with ergonomic assessments and program implementation
  • Experience conducting EHS training sessions for all levels of staff
  • Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
