How your typical day would go:

  • Performs the general accounting functions and month end closing process for complex European Howmet operating locations, serves as the primary point of contact for company’s operating locations. Works with Locations to meet with company KPIs, 6 PM period closing deadline.
  • Usage and maintenance of company accounting, control and reporting systems (Oracle, SAP, Hyperion, RST, ASP, etc.).
  • Conducts pre / post-closing / reconciliation related conference calls with locations as required.
  • Solves problems to root cause to prevent recurrence.
  • Maintains active and frequent communication with location accounting representatives and business unit personnel and regularly shares this information with team members and manager.
  • Owns the monthly tasks and closing process:  monitors tasks throughout the month, compiles and processes accounting entries, accruals.
  • Compiles and submits financial reports on behalf of the business units or locations (month end analysis reports, ad hoc requests and reports for locations, tax, audits, etc.).
  • Ensures accounting is performed according to the department's defined standards and the work is completed by defined deadlines. Works with European locations on tasks/processes required in fiscal ledgers.
  • Actively mentor colleagues within the team - shares, trains – and seeks for new ideas to improve processes.
  • Works with locations continuously in order to identify areas of improvement and value creation in all service areas.
  • Acts as an expert resource for location personnel in answering questions and providing direction on all areas of accounting.
  • Ensures that account reconciliations are completed by requirements of the company.
  • Complexity of general ledger/sub ledger accounting services range from routine, recurring business processes with moderate to high complexity transactions and reconciliations\\analysis.

We will like you if you have:
  • Degree in finance and accounting/management/economics, obtained at a college or university or CPA certificate
  • 4 years working experience (accounting, finance, controlling)
  • Fluent English and Hungarian language skill
  • MS Office products, computer skills (spreadsheet / data query and manipulation)
  • Good problem solving and communication ability
  • Accuracy and correctness
  • Good analytical and communication skill, including both face to face and remote interaction
  • Master’ degree in accounting/finance/management/economics is an advantage
  • ERP system knowledge is an advantage
  • Additional language knowledge is an advantage
