SUMMARY  
The furnace technician will maintain and identify any problem encountered in any   
Furnace, that interferes with its proper performance by performing the following duties:


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties and responsibilities include the following; other duties may be required and assigned at any time.
Coordinate with maintenance personnel for the necessary furnace repairs prior a temperature uniformity survey.
Setting the combustion on Furnaces for more efficiency performance prior Survey.
Cutting and welding thermocouple wire to the required length for each furnace prior the Uniformity Survey.
Getting the thermocouple wires attached to the survey poles and/or rack is also part of the survey preparation.
Performing Uniformity surveys test using a Data logger mobile computer.
Upload the uniformity survey results to the network system for proper review and acceptance by the Quality personnel in order to release the furnace back to production.
Calibrating the instrumentation of calibration such as the temperature recorders, temperature controllers and the over limit controllers.
Create the certification of calibration for each instrument and affixing calibration sticker that shows calibration Date and due date.
A recall list is also maintained to keep track of calibrations on each piece of equipment.
Assuring that after the quality personnel reviews and approves the certification of calibration they get filed in their corresponding folders for our records.
Maintain sufficient furnace components such as a spare of control thermocouple, temperature controllers, T/C wire
Making sure that all the instruments that can not be calibrated in house get calibrated by an outside source, such as Optical pyrometers, potentiometers and gas analyzers.
Review and quality stamp certifications for thermocouple wire, control thermocouples, potentiometers, optical - pyrometers and Gas analyzers prior ton their usage for both Forge and Heat Treat Dep.
All these duties are performed in accordance with Spec. AMS2750D Pyrometry.
Maintaining a monthly record of gas meters usage, for both the Heat Treat department and the Forge shop.
 
Must have an understanding and knowledge of company procedures and work instructions.
Maintains a safe and organized workstation and follows all company policy, safety and procedures.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Associate’s degree or equivalent from two year college or technical school and five years of metals processing experience is preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.


LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, drawings and specifications, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals. Ability to write detailed reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of co-workers.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.


REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
 
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Ability to access and operate a forklift and other powered industrial equipment to approved OSHA
standards
