Job Description

Ensure that plant practices conform to corporate environmental policy and federal, state and local regulations in a cost-effective manner with acceptable environmental impact through review of the regulations, review of departmental processes that cause environmental conditions and setting in place procedures and rules to allow departments to remain in compliance.
Key Accountabilities
•            Provide leadership and direction to the operation to ensure that the facility achieves a level of environmental excellence consistent with Arconic's values and goals to include sustainability and corporate responsibility to protect and sustain the environment and all natural resources
•            Provide topic expertise to facility regarding compliance with Federal, State, and Local Water & Waste Management regulations and Arconic expectations to assure plant compliance, especially as they relate to The Clean Water Act, The Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, the Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act (SARA), the Susquehanna River Basin Commission. 
•            Develop new courses of action as needed to address problems and program deficiencies.
•            Manage time of Environmental Technician to achieve specific environmental goals and objectives.
•            Preparing and submitting in a timely fashion all required reports, documents, samples and data required to agencies to meet regulatory compliance obligations, including reports for signature by the Director of   Operations.
•            Defining, developing and maintaining appropriate studies, programs and databases that will provide plant and corporate management with pertinent knowledge of environmental impact and the basis for prevention/corrective actions.
•            Providing communication and training to local plant management that will ensure all levels of plant personnel understand their role and functions for identifying and resolving environmental issues, complying environmental regulations, and minimizing civil and criminal exposure of the plant, business unit, and corporate personnel for plant environmental events and activities.
•            Maintaining awareness and pro-actively influencing emerging and existing environmental laws/regulations which may impact plant operations.  Negotiating environmental permits that reflect cost effective process design, reasonable operation constraints, and are consistent with corporate environmental policy and regulatory requirements.
•            Support team deployment and assist EHS Coordinators develop competency in their roles to support Lancaster’s, GRP’s and the company’s EHS Goals and Objectives.
•            Ensure existing ISO 14001 management system meets the requirements of the business;
•            Design and implement environmental and ISO training programs to relevant personnel;
•            Ensure significant issues or concerns are relayed to the management team and actions are cascaded through the company;
•            Carry out audits and analyze findings
•            Ensure consistent environmental standards are applied and met across all shifts.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
•            Personally, directed projects $100 -$500K/yr.
•            Liability impact (cost avoidance potential) $1 - 5 Million/yr.

Qualifications

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
•            BS in Environmental Sciences from an accredited Institution
•            3 years environmental experience
•          Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. 
 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
•            5 years environmental experience
•            Master’s in Environmental Sciences from an Accredited Institution
•            Experience working in manufacturing
