Job Description

JOB SUMMARY:
The E&I Technicians/Electricians inspects, tests, repairs, or maintains equipment in generating stations, substations, and in-service relays.
Essential Functions:
This is a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities and is not all inclusive. Incumbent(s) may and may be required to perform additional, position-specific tasks.
  • Inspect and test equipment and circuits to identify malfunctions or defects, using wiring diagrams and testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, or ammeters.
  • Consult manuals, schematics, wiring diagrams, and engineering personnel to troubleshoot and solve equipment problems and to determine optimum equipment functioning.
  • Prepare and maintain records detailing tests, repairs, and maintenance.
  • Analyze test data to diagnose malfunctions, to determine performance characteristics of systems, and to evaluate effects of system modifications.
  • Repair, replace, and clean equipment and components such as circuit breakers, brushes, and commutators.
  • Disconnect voltage regulators, bolts, and screws, and connect replacement regulators to high-voltage lines.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
  • Ability to work various shifts that support a 24/7 operation
  • Must be able to learn and follow company procedures and work instructions.
  • Maintains a safe and organized workstation and follows all company policy, safety and procedures.
 
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Production and Processing — Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
Operation and Control — Controlling operations of equipment or systems.
Operation Monitoring — Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
Quality Control Analysis — Conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance.
Reading Comprehension — Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents.
Critical Thinking — Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
Speaking — Talking to others to convey information effectively.
Troubleshooting — Determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it.
Basic functions of Microsoft Office Suite.

Physical Demands:
  • Continuously required to wear common Protective or Safety Equipment such as Safety Shoes, Glasses, Gloves, Hearing Protection, Hard Hats.
  • Continuously required to stand; walk; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
  • Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Frequently required lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Occasionally required to sit.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma/GED from an accredited institution
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience with machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience with circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software, including applications and programing.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S> person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S> Permanent Resident (i.e. ‘Green Card Holder’), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associates or bachelor’s degree in electrical maintenance or related field from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of 3 years of apprenticeship or vocational training
  • Completion of Licensing Exams preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming​
