Job Description

Reporting to the EHS Manager, the EHS Professional will be a member of the Arconic Functional team, also supporting the Operating Departments in Lafayette. This role will also provide Industrial Hygiene support for the Lafayette site. The principal objectives are to ensure that the Health and Industrial Hygiene management system progresses to a state of sustainable compliance with all regulatory and Arconic requirements, to enhance the work force’s understanding of health and safety risks and impacts, and to provide support to the site organization and leadership group.
Job Responsibilities & Duties:
  • Lead all aspects of the facility’s comprehensive health and industrial hygiene programs including the development and execution of IH sampling plans, the administration of IH databases and employee exposure records, development and oversight of asbestos management, ergonomics, respiratory protection, hearing conservation, hazard communication, and radiation/LASER protection programs.
  • Assist in the development and execution of strategic and tactical EHS plans for the reduction of employee unacceptable chemical and noise exposures.
  • Work closely with and support the onsite medical services department.
  • Coach and counsel location leaders to assist them in the execution of their EHS accountabilities.
  • Develops and sustains systems to drive compliance, fatality prevention, injury reduction, and environmental performance.
  • Analyses of data and reports necessary for corrective / preventive actions and identification of gaps.
  • Assists with development and implementation of EHS policy and procedures of Arconic and the business unit with focus on prevention and risk reduction.
  • Takes appropriate action to ensure compliance with applicable legislation, the location’s EHS policy and Arconic Standards.
  • Develops and conducts EHS-related training sessions.
  • Provide daily safety floor support for process and personnel to assist in deployment of best practices, identification and control of hazards.
  • Assist the management team with identification and investigation of safety issues/incidents and development of root cause solutions to drive continuous improvement of departmental safety performance


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution
  • Minimum 3 years of EHS experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status.  ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'). Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States.  Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire.  Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in industrial Hygiene, Safety Sciences, Public Health, Biology, or Chemistry from an accredited institution
  • Master’s Degree in Health, Safety or related field from an accredited institution.
  • 5+ years’ experience in the field of industrial hygiene in a manufacturing setting.
  • Demonstrated professional with passion for change and relentless focus on execution.
  • Critical skills include: Communication, time management, attention to detail, analytical, initiative, problem solving, customer focus, collaboration, ownership and commitment, drive for change, and tenacity.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Windows, Excel, Access, Word, Power Point).
  • Knowledge of OSHA Regulatory requirements
  • Solid training and presentation skills
  • Certified Industrial Hygienist preferable
  • Human performance experience.
  • Professional certification or working toward a certification
  • Other Details: Relocation assistance is provided. Expected travel is less than 5%.
