POSITION SUMMARY
 
The Environmental Engineer is responsible for managing the day-to-day environmental compliance programs, permit requirements and providing technical oversight and expertise to EHS and other site leaders.  This position will actively participate in the company audit and self-assessment program, incident investigation and corrective action process, and continuous improvement activities. The environmental, health, and safety (EHS) Engineer is responsible for managing the day-to-day environmental, health, and safety compliance programs, permit requirements and providing technical oversight and expertise to EHS and other site leaders.  This position will actively participate in the company audit and self-assessment program, incident investigation and corrective action process, and continuous improvement activities.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
 
  • Assist in maintaining all records and documents as they pertain to the EHS Management System.
  • Perform site compliance sampling and submission to lab for analysis.
  • Assess and monitor site compliance with all local, state, and federal environmental regulations.  Works with plant personnel to insure compliance.
  • Develop and conduct required EHS training.
  • Prepare applicable regulatory/company deliverable reports.
  • Facilitate EHS incident prevention and investigation processes and prepare reports to appropriate agencies.
  • Maintains full compliance with Company policies and procedures and conducts all activities in accordance with the Arconic Guide to Business Conduct
  • Conduct site regulatory compliance audits.
  • Monitor waste streams and waste products to ascertain ways to eliminate or minimize waste generation.
  • Monitor wastewater treatment system to ensure permit compliance and direct water conservation activities.
  • Interface with all levels of the organization and external agencies, vendors and contacts.
  • Work closely with site management and other members of the EHS team.

  • Conduct site regulatory compliance audits.

  • Interface with all levels of the organization and external agencies, vendors and contacts.
  • Work closely with Health & Safety Engineer.


Qualifications

EDUCATION:
 
B.S. degree in environmental, health, and safety from an accredited institution.
 
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:  
 
  • A minimum 3 years EHS compliance experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience with all environmental media (i.e., air, water/wastewater, waste).
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience with safety management inspections.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States.  Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire.  Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status.  ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
  • Prior experience with preparation of EHS deliverables (e.g., OSHA, SARA, RCRA, DMR’s).
  • Demonstrates a knowledge of and commitment to Arconic Business Systems manufacturing principles and techniques
  • Individuals must have strong organizational, interpersonal, and oral/written communication skills and be proficient in MS Office products.
  • Proficient with math, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
 
 
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
  • Knowledge of Arconic’s environmental policies/procedures and self-assessment/audit process is preferable.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience with EHS management systems, training, preparation and/or implementation
  • 3 years of experience in the preparation of environmental permit applications.
  • 3 years of experience with SWPPP and SPCC Plans.
 
WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Full time, first shift.  Occasional evening and weekend work required.
 
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Lifting/Pushing/Pulling:  Moderately Heavy - Limited to 40 pounds
  • Standing/Walking:  Moderate 40 -60% or more of workday
  • Bending/Twisting:  Light 10% or more of workday
  • Temperature Extremes (percent of time working in non-climate controlled, production environment): Moderate 40 – 60% of workday
  • Noise:  Hearing protection always required in shop and on production floor.
