Job Description

The incumbent coordinates the operation of the Supply Chain Management Department to achieve established goals and objectives.  The position develops and maintains S.O.P.’s, S.J.P.’s and QS9000 Standards, and trains effected employees for compliance of mentioned control systems.
In addition, the incumbent will also be responsible for all aspects of the outbound and inbound freight.  These responsibilities will include:
Plan, schedule and expedite the distribution of customer orders in a safe and most cost-efficient way possible with Arconic approved carriers using a selection process that is balanced throughout the carrier base to insure on-time delivery.
Plan outbound loading to maintain or exceed the established Lancaster Operation’s goals for safety: i.e. Van’s versus Flat ratio and number of loads per day. Maintain a consistent flow of
customer orders, accomplish shipping performance goals set by the Lancaster Operations and minimize waiting time of Arconic loading personnel and the carriers.
Plan inbound return material to correspond with outbound shipments to minimize shipment cost
while maintaining the set goals for return material return days.
Key Accountabilities
•             Monitor Department’s daily production schedule and coordinate changes with affected departments and suppliers.
•             Maintain Department’s report/charts relative to production and quality goals.
•             Coordinate efforts on all shifts to ensure the efficient use of equipment and manpower.
•             Maintain Department’s documentation for QS9000
•             Assist in the training of S.O.P.’s, S.J.P.’s and QS9000 standards and quality issues
•             Work with outside vendors to insure a continuous flow of equipment is available to meet
              the needs of the plant to maintain and achieve set goals.
•             Assist with special projects/assignments as required
•             Coordinate loads with the shipping dock, packing and management to maintain safe working conditions and meet on-time delivery performance. 
•             Coordinate MSO shipments from the plant; manage approval process for MSO requestors relating to hazardous waste shipments.
•             Communicate to Arconic Materials Management and Lancaster management the changes in equipment, lanes and needs of the Lancaster Plant to meet the planned production goals.     
•             All outbound domestic and Canadian finished goods loads are made into truckloads by this position.   The incumbent works with supervisor on exports overseas.
•             Prepare export documents for Canadian shipment after a Carrier has accepted the load. This is a semi-automatic process in the electronic management system.  Incumbent confirms items in shipment and enters the border crossing point.
•             Coordinate customer requirements for delivery of finished goods with carriers to give the customer what they want and when they want it.  Carriers are contacted for special requirements and needs. One time rates could be part of the discussions with the carriers. 
•             Track Hot Slip orders through Departments to meet shipping promise performance deadlines.  At every daily production meeting, the incumbent is required to give an update on Hot Slipped material. This does involve contacting CSSR, Packing, Mill Finishing, Paint Line, Cold Rolling, Annealing and Scheduling. 
•             Keep customer needs, external and internal, in mind when making decisions.
•             Ask questions of Packing, CSSR, Mill Finishing, Paint Line, Scheduling, Cold Rolling, Annealing and Management to rapidly communicate the needs to maintain shipping promise performance goals.
•             Contact CSSR when release issues arise.  An order may not be complete, need to verify if partial shipment should be made.  Identify and correct errors in the release of metal for shipment.
•             Inbound loads – Call customer to determine if load is ready.  If it is, contact carrier to schedule delivery.
•             Incumbent participates and contributes to the plant’s cost reduction efforts through participating in the waste minimization meeting.
•             The incumbent is expected to operate autonomously without daily supervision by manager. 
•             The incumbent is expected to raise issues and concerns with problems and recognize opportunities for improvement, and help to get those issues solved.
•             Directly affects the Shipping/Packing budget.  Attention must be given to the Carrier Rate Tables when choosing a carrier. Cost per pound to ship established by the Lancaster operations. Shipping performance goals established by the Lancaster operations.  The incumbent is responsible for providing input into the departmental budget on funds for areas of responsibility and adhering to the budget as approved.
•             Collaboration – Build relationships with CSR, Packing, Shipping, Mill Finishing, Paint Line, Annealing, Management and carriers to maintain a safe consistent flow of FGI to the customer.
•             Attention to Detail – Communicate issues and have solutions corrected without conflict.  Insure all information given is consistent and accurate.  Provide information and solutions to challenges. Track and follow all solutions developed for the issues.
•             Professionalism – Accept challenges including new and different from the normal.  Maintain a professional working relationship at all times with all levels of the organization.
•             Making Touch Decisions – Make decisions that are not always understood by other employees.  Take quick actions to diffuse challenges that occur:  i.e. changing             loads around to honor Hot Slip commitments.


•         High School Diploma or GED
•         3 years of experience in a logistics or related position in a manufacturing environment
•         Good computer skills (Outlook, excel and word )
•         Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to be effective with all levels of the Lancaster organization, Arconic Materials Management and Carriers.
•         Excellent human relations skills and be able to work effectively with customers, carriers and employees at all levels of the organization.
Preferred Qualifications:
•         Associates Degree preferred
•          5 years of experience in related position in an aluminum rolling mill
•         Knowledge of carrier rates and their impact on conversion cost
