Arconic is seeking a Capital Procurement Manager to join its Engineered Products and Forgings (EP&F) business. This position will be based in Cleveland, Ohio and reports to the Director of Category Management, Arconic Engineered Structures. This is an individual contributor role without direct reports. We encourage qualified applicants with a desire to join an organization dedicated to rapid growth to apply.

The Capital Procurement Manager, EP&F directs project resources, Engineering Procurement and Construction Management (EPCM) service providers, and other third-party suppliers such as design consultants and specialist consultants in the development and assessment of sourcing options that meet the needs of capital projects in the spend range of $2B over a three-year period.
The incumbent will identify leveraged opportunities across the portfolio and achieve goals related to savings, compliance, development, and project execution by collaborating with others. The portfolio of projects includes major sustaining and growth projects across our Engineered Products & Forgings Business Unit.

Major responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Business Alignment

  • Understand the needs and requirements of the business and work with key business stakeholders to develop strategies that will support their short/long term capital growth plans.
  • Engage the appropriate level of sponsorship and representation from the business teams to develop and execute value-added strategies that deliver against the strategic goals of the business while providing cost reductions for the corporation.
  • Develop and use a robust global network with intimate knowledge of the business within the portfolio to deliver against effective strategies and provide world class support of the projects.  

Strategy Development 

  • Use extensive knowledge of the market, business units, and commodity management to provide guidance to a team that develops commodity portfolio strategies which meet the needs of the business and the Company and redefines the way capital procurement delivers value to its customers.
  • Develop project strategies that maximize value to the Company by leveraging the synergies of the portfolio.  The strategies will address the need to reduce the total cost of ownership, improve and standardize terms and conditions, improve efficiencies, and improve supplier value while continuously improving quality and service.
  • Partner with the Business Unit and its Global Director of Procurement Operations to ensure that each Global Strategy is aligned to Procurement and BU strategies.

Opportunity Prioritization

  • Identify and develop solutions that will support both short-term and long-term opportunities within the portfolio. The incumbent will need to be strongly linked to the business unit’s Engineering and Capital project teams to ensure that these all opportunities are uncovered and prioritized at the correct phase of the project life cycle.
  • Develop commercial options and recommendations for project execution strategies with support from the business.
  • Work collaboratively with the indirect and direct commodity management teams, peers within the business, and procurement to prioritize opportunities.         

Sourcing Strategy Management 

  • Develop and apply various performance metrics and governance criteria for the project teams; for example, setting of cost reduction targets for teams that support the optimized estimate for the project and setting of KPI’s to ensure that project spending and supplier deliverables are aligned and being met.
  • Manage and update project strategies to ensure alignment with changes in the project or in accordance with preferences in the business unit or changes in the marketplace.
  • Develop, implement, and support post-purchase strategies of capital contracts such as negotiating spare parts, equipment service contract, equipment training and maintaining production up time.    


  • Communicate strategies to project teams, the BU’s, and the global procurement organization.
  • Define and execute the rules of engagement between the BU’s, project teams, and capital team resources.
  • Ensure rigor and discipline in project commercial management and in sourcing and supplier management processes.
  • Work to ensure interlocking of activities and business strategies and provide feedback on strategies and ensure the utilization of best-in-class practices in development and execution.
  • Manage the strategic direction and business alignment to champion value creation and value capture for: performance monitoring and ongoing supplier and contract management.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s level degree from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 10 years previous work experience in a Procurement or Capital Procurement/Sourcing role.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. ‘Green Card Holder’) Political Asylee, or Refugee.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Supply Chain, Logistics, Information Technology, Finance, Accounting, Data Science/Analytics, Marketing/Communications, Economics, Mathematics, or Engineering
  • MBA in Business, Business Administration, Economics, or Finance
  • Minimum of 5 years of project management experience
  • Professional Certifications (CPM, APICS)
