Job Description

Primary Purpose of the Job

  • The Business Unit Plant Procurement Manager develops and leads the BU Plant Procurement team.
  • The overall goal is to achieve the best total cost position for all external spend of the respective Business Unit plant, the lowest sourcing risks, best supplier performances and ensuring highest efficiency and effectiveness of the BU Plant Procurement team.
  • He/she ensures the optimal collaboration of BU Plant Procurement with BU Procurement Engineering as well as with Global Category Management and Regional Procurement to achieve best procurement results.
  • He/she is directly responsible the BU Plant Procurement targets.
Major activities/Key challenges
  • Responsible for the relevant Plant Procurement Operations function
  • Leads Business Unit Strategic Buyers
  • Works in close conjunction and alignment with Business Unit Procurement Engineers
  • Shares savings targets with Category Management, Procurement Engineering, on Plant-specific spends
  • i.e. Performance areas: Cost Savings (SRT), Supplier performance, challenging of material & service specifications (demand management), procurement organizational efficiency
  • Monitors and controls BU plant procurement target achievement and initiates counter measures if necessary
  • Communicates supplier issues to Business Unit Procurement Operations Director and Category Management
  • Participate in supplier meetings jointly with Category Lead if relevant for the Plant
Essential Knowledge & Skills/Education
  • Minimum of 3 years of previous work experience in purchasing management
  • Proven leadership in purchasing management
  • Honours degree/4 year degree in Business Administration/Economics
  • Technical understanding preferred

  • People development skills

Basic Qualifications

Basic or Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Engineering, Procurement, Finance, or Supply Chain
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of Hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.

  • BA in Business, Finance, Engineering, or Supply Chain Management from an accredited institution.
  • Advanced degree (MBA) from an accredited institution.
  • Professional certifications (PMP, CPM, APICS, P.E.)
  • 2 years’ experience managing a plant based procurement function with direct reports.
  • Possess strong analytical skills and attention to detail with a demonstrated ability to organize, multi-task and prioritize a rapidly changing set of objectives.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with suppliers and customers both written and verbal.
  • Ability to offer professional and expeditious assistance in a fast-paced environment.
  • Possess very strong collaboration skills with the ability to implement key procurement initiatives across all major departments within the facility
  • Possess solid organizational skills to manage multiple Procurement and plant based projects/programs while managing day to day buying requirements
  • Experience with a Strategic Sourcing Process
  • Possess financial analysis skills - develop and evaluate business cases for decisions
  • Possess strong negotiation skills
